Have you ever wondered how some people get so much done? They have mastered the skill of time management.
The semester is in full swing. Right now, it’s more important than ever to use your time wisely. For seniors, it’s time to finish those college applications. For juniors, it’s time to take the standardized tests and maybe do some college visits. While you’re preparing for college, it’s important to not let your grades slip.
Here are some time management tips.
Use a planner or calendar. The more specific you can be in scheduling your time, the more productive you will be. For example, don’t just write in your calendar when your classes are, schedule time to study or complete your course work with specificity. Maybe you have a literature class, put in your calendar WHEN you’ll do the reading and WHEN you’ll write the paper. The more specific you are, the more efficient you will become.
Prioritize your tasks. Make sure to get the more important tasks done first. It’s also a good idea to get the tougher tasks done first so they’re out of the way and you don’t procrastinate.
Review your week ahead on Sunday. This will give you an idea of what’s coming up and you have the opportunity to move things around if you need to proactively.
Review your day the night before. Take a look at everything you need to get done the next day so you are mentally prepared for what you need to get done.
Don’t forget to build in some fun.
